Shirsath et al. performed comparative study of conventional extraction and UAE of curcumin from Curcuma amada. At optimized conditions of 35 ℃, solid/solvent ratio of 1:25 (g/mL), particle size of 0.09 mm, 1 h extraction time, ultrasonic power of 250 W and ultrasound frequency of 22 kHz and ethanol as the solvent it was reported to yield 72 % curcumin extraction yield whereas, the solvent extraction or maceration/soaking resulted in about 62 % yield in 8 h of treatment time. Thus overall it can be concluded that ultrasonic extraction can effectively applied to reduce the process time with enhanced extraction yields.
